Install walkthrough

Your computer shows a one-time security notice from Apple or Microsoft — every new app sees this until its developer verification completes (ours is in progress; once done, these steps disappear and installation is a plain double-click). Here is exactly what you'll see and what to click. Total time: about a minute.

The verified installer does not fetch optional interface packages. If a compatible native window component is already installed, Vanilla Brain uses it; otherwise the same live dashboard opens in your browser.

🍎 Mac

macOS 12 or newer
1

Download and open the installer

Click Download for Mac, then double-click VanillaBrain-Mac.pkg in your Downloads folder. macOS will show this notice:

⚠️
“VanillaBrain-Mac.pkg”
Not Opened

Apple could not verify this software is free of malware.

2

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security

Click the Apple menu  → System SettingsPrivacy & Security in the sidebar, then scroll to the bottom. You'll find:

Privacy & Security  ›  Security

“VanillaBrain-Mac.pkg” was blocked to protect your Mac.

Open Anyway

3

Confirm, then let the installer run

Click Open Anyway, confirm with your Mac password or Touch ID, and the normal installer opens. Click Continue → Install. The installer does everything: wires your AI agents, schedules nightly self-maintenance, and opens your dashboard when it finishes. You never touch a terminal.

If the installer says developer tools are required: macOS is offering to install Apple's free command-line tools (which include Python). Click Install, wait a few minutes, then double-click the .pkg again.

⊞ Windows

Windows 10 or 11
1

Download and run the installer

Click Download for Windows, then double-click VanillaBrain-Windows.bat in your Downloads folder. Windows may show this blue screen:

Windows protected your PC

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.

Don't run

2

Click “Run anyway”

After More info, a Run anyway button appears — click it.

Watch it finish

A small window shows the install progress, then your brain dashboard opens in the browser. Everything is wired automatically — agents, nightly self-maintenance, all of it. The window says when it's safe to close.

If it says Python 3.9+ is required: install Python from python.org/downloads, tick “Add python.exe to PATH” on the first screen of that installer, finish it, then double-click VanillaBrain-Windows.bat again.
These notices exist because our Apple & Microsoft developer verification is still in progress — signed builds will install with no warnings at all.  ·  back to download
